This is an excellent opportunity to join Kirkby Stephen Grammar School at a pivotal time for its future. We are looking for an outstanding candidate to join our growing team. Part of Cumbria Education Trust, Kirkby Stephen Grammar School is seeking to appoint a Year Group Manager to act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer and Child Protection caseload holder. This role holder will develop a support network providing guidance and help for students in need – attendance, social and emotional issues and behaviour being the main focus. The Year Group Manager will work on attendance with the Area Inclusion Officer (LA) and provide timely, effective and satisfactory responses to any concern or query raised by parents/carers and staff.

This varied role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to the outcomes of students through effective support and acting as a positive role model.

  • Hours of work: 37 hours per week
  • Term weeks: 38 + 1 weeks school closure (39 weeks per year)
  • Basis: Permanent

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Hold appropriate academic qualifications to at least GCSE standard or be able to demonstrate competency through proven experience in a similar role
  • Hold an appropriate professional qualification or be able to demonstrate competency through proven experience in a similar role
  • Be seeking to develop a career working with young people in an educational context and will have relevant experience in a similar environment
  • Experience in the field of education, welfare, youth work, careers and training or EBD would be an advantage
  • Be well-organised and capable of working on their own initiative to a high level of accuracy and presentation
  • Have excellent inter-personal skills and be able to communicate effectively with tact, diplomacy and discretion
