About This Role

Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Working pattern: Monday to Friday

Term weeks: 38 + 2 weeks school closure (40 working weeks per year) minimum paid weeks- 45.797

Salary: Values stated are full time equivalent (FTE) and will be subject to pro rata dependent on the grade agreed and any recognised continuous service (minimum starting pro rata value would be £33,568).

The Queen Katherine School is part of the Cumbria Education Trust. The CET is a growing multi‑academy trust based in Cumbria, committed to creating outstanding, innovative and inspiring learning environments for our schools and communities.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Senior Pastoral Lead to ensure inclusion, behaviour and attendance are coherent and high‑quality across the school. The postholder will also provide strategic leadership of student recruitment and transition from Years 6 to 7.

What We Are Looking For

  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics; higher level desirable.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development related to safeguarding, inclusion, behaviour, SEND or leadership.
  • Experience in pastoral leadership, behaviour, safeguarding or SEND.
  • Experience leading teams and improving outcomes for students.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation.
  • Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management, restorative and trauma‑informed approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills for behaviour, attendance and safeguarding data.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of staff development and adult learning.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity and student wellbeing.
  • Ability to inspire confidence and build strong relationships.
