About The Role

Queen Katherine School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly organised

Assistant to the SENCO to join our supportive and ambitious team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality SEND provision within a thriving secondary school and across the wider inclusion agenda of Cumbria Education Trust.

Working closely with the SENCO, you will

  • Lead and support a team of Learning Support Assistants.
  • Help coordinate and deliver effective SEND provision and interventions.
  • Chair and record Annual Reviews where appropriate.
  • Develop Learning Action Plans and student passports.
  • Liaise with families, pastoral teams and external agencies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and support programmes.
  • Ensure SEND records and documentation are maintained to a high standard.
  • Contribute to staff development and the promotion of inclusive practice across the school.

This is a varied and rewarding role that combines leadership, coordination and direct support for students, offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people's educational journeys.

About You

We are looking for someone who

  • Holds HLTA status or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Has experience supporting children and young people with a range of learning needs.
  • Can build positive relationships with students, families, staff and external professionals.
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to inclusion and ensuring every student can thrive.
