Applications are invited from suitable candidates for a trainer position within the Learning and Development Team at HQ. The trainer role involves planning, developing, delivering, and coordinating locally, regionally, nationally, and corporately approved training products and techniques to police officers and staff roles within Cumbria Constabulary, including supporting the development of new entrants to the organisation as well as ongoing and refresher training to meet the constabulary's requirements.
One vacancy is available covering the areas of Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST), First Aid, Job Related Fitness Tests, and Taser Training. The shift pattern is Monday to Friday in line with the constabulary's current training day.
Applicants ideally will hold an externally recognised training qualification e.g. NVQ Level 4, Cert Ed., CTLLS or equivalent, or if not already qualified must be willing to undertake the minimum acceptable qualification once in post and be successful in completion to continue in the role. The successful candidate must be willing to:
- Undertake training required to enable the professional delivery of courses (which includes both training as a learner and instructor).
- Obtain College of Policing instructor qualifications (where applicable).
- Demonstrate occupational competency and maintain required CPD.
- Undertake a period of shadowing, take and deliver feedback.
- Comply and support Authorised Professional Practice.
- Design training and development sessions, courses, and programmes of learning.
- Deliver training and development sessions professionally, maintaining the integrity of corporately agreed products.
- Evaluate training and development programmes and assist with learning and feedback review processes.
- Prepare and deliver presentations.
- Complete administration procedures.
- Comply with Health & Safety legislation, policy and procedure.
- Maintain standards of professional practice in line with the Code of Ethics and Upstander Training.
- Promote equality, diversity, and Human Rights in working practices.
- Provide specialist advice and knowledge.
- Address disciplinary and unsatisfactory performance procedures in respect of students.
- Deal with grievances in respect of students.
- Demonstrate a flexible approach in respect of place of work and shift pattern (the post may involve working evenings, weekends, and staying in overnight accommodation away from home when necessary).
- Promote and comply with Cumbria Constabulary’s policies on equal opportunities, safeguarding, and health and safety both in the delivery of service and the treatment of others.
- Be responsible for improving your performance by participating in the Performance Development Review (PDR) process with your line manager.
- Carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities, and grading of the post.
