Rate of Pay: £1200 for the period (total of 96 hours at £12.50 per hour)

Contract type: Freelance

Start date: 10th September 2025 (for training and orientation) to 25th March 2026, with potential for contract renewal.

Description of Role:

Rosehill has been running a creative family after-school session in Woodhouse since September 2024. It has become a community where the people who attend play, create and connect with each other. Families can expect a warm welcome, a wide variety of stimulating creative activities, food and warm drinks.

We need an assistant to:

  • Help the artists to set up the room
  • Lay out food for attendees (food hygiene instruction will be given)
  • Monitor and welcome arrivals, sign them in, check whether they consent to be in photographs and offer them a hot drink
  • Help keep the space safe
  • Engage with participants and join in activities
  • Take the lead on cleaning up and leaving the venue as we found it at the end of the session
  • Do the food shopping before the session

As this is a dynamic environment, a degree of flexibility is to be expected. This can be a physically demanding role, please ask if you have questions around the level of mobility required.

Person Specification:

  • Friendly and positive, people skills
  • Interest in creative and community projects
  • Understanding of/interest in issues faced by families in Whitehaven
  • Can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck into jobs that need doing
  • Sense of humour
  • Current DBS holder, or willing to have a check carried out
  • Access to own transport
  • Comfortable working with people of a variety of ages and backgrounds
