Working at Solway Community School and Beacon Hill Community School
At Cumbria Futures Federation, we work at the heart of our communities. Our small secondary schools are inclusive, welcoming, and ambitious. With a wide range of abilities in each class and a broad and balanced curriculum, our ‘Good’ schools punch well above their weight and provide a unique experience for our students.
We are seeking a Senior Finance and Admin Officer to work across both of our schools supporting our Director of Finance and Operations in processing day-to-day finance and payroll activities. You will be responsible for delivering end-to-end processes from order to invoicing to preparing bank payments, including monthly reconciliation, and sending invoices out for the services we provide (meals, extended services) and managing communications with other schools and groups who use our facilities. You will oversee income into the school from parents and students and our petty cash arrangements. You will also manage payroll using our Sage Payroll to ensure staff are paid promptly and accurately and support the preparation and monitoring of budgets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
The role also encompasses HR administration support for our Director of Finance and Operations and providing ad-hoc administrative support for senior managers.
Working across both of our schools, you will be a key part of a busy finance and admin function and contribute to the successful operations of two busy schools. While experience is preferred, we are happy to provide specific training to someone with the right aptitude and attention to detail, including training on software and internal processes. There may also be an opportunity to study for formal qualifications with our support.
If you feel you share our values, then we would like to hear from you. For an informal conversation about the role and what it is like working for us, please contact the school office to arrange a chat with our Finance and Admin Manager, Director of Finance, or Deputy Headteacher.
For additional information and to apply please visit our websites or or call 016973 31234 or 20509 for an application pack.
Closing date for applications Wednesday 6th November 2024. Interviews will be held later that week.
Our schools take safeguarding very seriously. All posts involving direct contact with children are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974, and the successful applicant will be required to hold or undergo a suitable enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure. However, amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020)) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’. These are not subject to disclosure to employers and cannot be considered. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the Ministry of Justice website or via the Unlock website.
Short-listed candidates will be asked to complete a criminal record self-disclosure form to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered or protected, to be returned to the school prior to the date of the interview. You may be asked for further information about your criminal history during the recruitment process. If your application is successful, this criminal record self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure & Barring Service before your appointment is confirmed.
In addition to the above, the school reserves the right to carry out an online search on short-listed candidates. This will only include a search for information which is publicly available online. Please note it is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
