Join our Highways and Transport team and play a key role in designing, delivering and maintaining essential highway improvement and maintenance projects across Cumberland. In this varied role, you will carry out surveys, prepare designs and specifications, support winter maintenance activities, and provide clear technical advice to colleagues, contractors and stakeholders. You will also help monitor compliance with contracts and standards, contribute to asset management, and support collaborative team working. This role is available on a permanent basis.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with an HND/HNC in a transportation or construction‑related field (or equivalent) and strong experience in highway, construction or transportation design. You should be confident using IT systems, producing reports, managing your own workload, and communicating effectively with a wide range of people. Knowledge of local government processes, national highway design standards, and construction contracts is beneficial, as is experience with winter maintenance or design software such as AutoCAD. If you’re proactive, adaptable and keen to help deliver safe, high‑quality services for our communities, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
