Overview
Independent Reviewing Officer – Cumberland Council (CMB2037e). This role is based in West Cumbria, Workington. Salary: £51,356 – £52,413. Hours: 37 per week. Contract: Fixed-term; location: West Cumbria House, Workington. This includes two roles: one maternity cover until the permanent postholder returns (end date expected 30 October 2026) and a second 6-month fixed-term contract.
Responsibilities
- Chair statutory Cared For Reviews, Child Protection Conferences, and complex strategy meetings, ensuring each child has a robust plan reflecting their needs, wishes, and feelings.
- Monitor and challenge care arrangements through close liaison with professionals and data systems to ensure high standards for Cared For children.
- Provide expert advice, contribute to training and service quality assurance.
- Promote the resolution of concerns through the Outcome Resolution Process, in line with Independent Reviewing Officer statutory guidance.
Qualifications
You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
Requirements & Safeguarding
- This role requires an Enhanced DBS Check with a Children’s Barred List check.
- It is an offence to apply for roles requiring unsupervised work with Children if you are barred from doing so.
