Join Cumberland Council as a Highways Area Steward

Are you ready to lead teams in delivering essential highways maintenance across our region? Cumberland Council is seeking a proactive and experienced Highways Area Steward to supervise up to 15 staff in the planning, execution, and quality control of roadworks, drainage, structures and reactive maintenance. You’ll be the key point of contact for councillors and the public, ensuring high standards of safety, performance, and service delivery.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with a HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or significant experience in highway maintenance, alongside strong leadership and organisational skills. You’ll be comfortable managing resources, liaising with stakeholders, and contributing to winter service operations.
