We have an exciting opportunity for a Premises Maintenance Assistant to join our Premises team to carry out decoration and repairs to The Cumberland estate.

The Role
Main responsibilities include:
- Deliver, through attitude and actions, an exceptional customer experience.
- To meet, exceed and continuously improve standards and quality of customer service, both internal and external.
- Carry out maintenance/cleaning tasks/checks to ensure a safe and clean working environment is maintained within all the Building Society premises, to meet the Society’s Health & Safety standards/requirements.
- Attend Cumberland Building Society premises, liaise with Cumberland Building Society Managers, Staff and Tenants and agree any repairs (planned and reactive) with them prior to carrying them out, with careful consideration for customer care, Health and Safety and safe working practices (which must be adhered to).
- Carry out all delegated premises repairs including decoration and various minor repairs within the capabilities of the role, always in compliance with all H&S requirements.
- Identify, prioritise, and proactively carry out work allocations efficiently to ensure effects on branches are minimised, and time is used wisely to complete works.
- Work flexibly as part of a team, covering other premises staff duties & hours when reasonably requested, for example to cover holiday or sickness absence.
- Carry out occasional out-of-hours work (including some weekend work), to ensure repairs are carried out efficiently and safely without staff and customers being around. This work will be paid as overtime or be given back as time in lieu (as agreed and authorised by line management).
- Act, at all times, in a manner which is consistent with the Society’s culture of treating people and customers fairly.
- Consistently work in an efficient and highly productive manner, seeking to challenge and improve processes undertaken by you and within your team, to ensure a high level of productivity.
- Understand and be aware of the risk and control environment in your area of the business and adhere to processes and procedures in order to minimise risk.
About You
Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate skills and experience in one or more trades, for example painting & decorating; carpentry/joinery; plumbing; or general building/”handyman”. Availability to attend Head Office in Carlisle and being willing to travel within the branch network as required.
