Culverdene Nursery Ltd is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Team Leader to join our Early Years team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual who brings energy, creativity, and strong leadership to a nurturing childcare environment. We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves working in Early Years, thrives on a challenge, and has a great sense of humour.

Working Hours

  • 30 hours per week over 4 days
  • Includes: Two 7:30am starts, Two 6:00pm finishes
  • All year round position (We are unable to offer term time only for this position due to the nursery being open all year around).

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Early Years education and proven leadership experience. You will play a key role in enhancing our provision, supporting the team, and delivering exceptional learning experiences for children aged 0–5. You’ll need to be adaptable, organised, and confident in managing both planned activities and the unexpected moments that come with working in a nursery setting.

Requirements

  • Relevant Early Years or childcare qualification (essential)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Early Years setting
  • Previous leadership experience (e.g. Room Leader, Team Leader, Deputy Manager) desirable
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Passion for child development and early education
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

Duties

  • Lead and supervise nursery staff to ensure smooth daily operations and high-quality care.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and legal requirements.
  • Support staff development through coaching, training, and regular performance reviews.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents or guardians regarding children's progress and well-being.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as rota planning, record keeping, and resource management.
  • Foster a positive team environment that encourages professional growth and teamwork.
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities tailored to children aged 0–5 years in line with the EYFS requirements.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
  • Observe and assess children’s progress using the Graduated Approach.
  • Build strong relationships with children, promoting emotional well-being and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of care and education.
  • Support positive behaviour using reinforcement strategies and Zones of Regulation.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance learning and inclusion for all children.

  • Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and childcare regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Experience working directly with children across various age groups.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team effectively while maintaining a nurturing environment.
  • Organised with excellent planning skills to manage daily routines efficiently.
  • Compassionate approach with a genuine passion for child development and well-being.
