Culture Guru is recruiting for an Economist - Fixed Income Analyst to be part of a fast-growing, ever-evolving start-up client that is a SaaS platform for financial market insights & data analytics.
This successful agile startup is looking for an experienced monetary economics and economy macroeconomics analyst/economist who is passionate about emerging and frontier markets to join their growing business immediately.
This role is suited for a confident and meticulous, self-starter who has a strong understanding specifically of sovereign debt and economics in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), the former CIS-economies and those of Central Asia.
Responsibilities:
- To write and publish research on emerging and frontier markets, specifically on sovereign debt and economics in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), the former CIS-economies and those of Central Asia.
- Track high-frequency economic data releases and news flow for countries under coverage and provide timely commentary to clients, including in coordination with colleagues.
- Provide forecasts of key macroeconomic variables for countries under coverage, where appropriate.
- Monitor central bank policy meetings, budget statements, and other official communication.
- Provide political analysis of countries under coverage.
The successful candidate will be expected to be able to communicate and present macro themes and investment recommendations to clients and media.
Desirable attributes:
- Master's degree in Economics, with a sound grasp of monetary economics and open economy macroeconomics.
- Experience operating as an analyst or economist in a global macro-based or emerging market environment would be desirable; around 5-7 years' experience.
- Solid data handling and analytical skills, including command of Microsoft Excel, Bloomberg and Haver; econometric skills are also an advantage.
- Strong understanding of macroeconomics, central bank operations and fiscal policy in emerging markets.
- Passionate about emerging and frontier markets.
- Confident, meticulous, self-starter and able to work effectively in a small team.
