Are you a commercial account executive who's tired of being a cog in a big, clunky machine - and want real autonomy, a book you actually own, and a genuine stake in what you build?

Culture Guru is recruiting for an experienced Commercial Account Executive on behalf of a scaling, privately-owned boutique insurance brokerage - an award-nominated Small Broker of the Year finalist - that's carving out a real name for itself while the mid-sized brokers around it keep getting bought up and flogged off.

Founded around three years ago and now at c.£1m on the book across construction, property and private clients, this is an independent brokerage that intends to stay that way - with a clear five-year plan to build up and exit. This vacancy would suit someone who wants to broker properly again: identify and win their own new business, build genuine commercial relationships, and manage their own diary with real autonomy - all without the sign-off-to-America red tape of the big groups.

The brand, back-office and market relationships are already in place, so your focus is purely on what you do best: looking after clients and winning new business.

Responsibilities of the role but not limited to:

  • Bringing over and/or building your own book of commercial clients (target c.£275–300k+)
  • Winning fresh commercial new business across SME and mid-market
  • Owning your client relationships end to end - advice, placement, renewal, retention
  • Advising across commercial lines (property owners, liability, PI, commercial combined, fleet and more)
  • Negotiating terms and wordings with underwriters to get the best client outcome
  • Managing your own pipeline, diary and activity with genuine autonomy
  • Shaping your own growth plan alongside the business owners
  • Consistently delivering against (and beating) your new-business targets

Desirable attributes of the successful candidate:

  • A genuine track record of winning new commercial business as an account executive
  • Hard evidence of the book and revenue you've personally built or grown
  • A portable book you could realistically bring - or a credible plan to build one to £275k+
  • CII qualified (Cert CII / Dip CII / ACII) desirable - but track record beats letters
  • Frustrated with big-broker bureaucracy and hungry for autonomy and real impact
  • Entrepreneurial - you back yourself and you're motivated by long-term equity/upside
  • Strong network across the South West and/or South Wales
  • A confident, credible communicator who can build rapport and negotiate
  • Driven by results, comfortable owning your own time and your own numbers
  • Full UK driving licence

Apply with your CV today to avoid missing the opportunity to join an independent brokerage during an exciting period of growth - with real equity in what you build!
