Culture for Climate Scotland is looking for an organised, communicative and imaginative person to join the team. The main purpose of this job is to work with the Green Arts manager and wider team to support the Green Arts Initiative membership, and support network development in other aspects of Culture for Climate Scotland's reach.

Introduction to Culture for Climate Scotland

Culture for Climate Scotland believes in the power of the arts and culture and screen sectors to help achieve sustainability in Scotland and the world. We support individuals and organisations in these sectors to be sustainable themselves and to lead and influence climate action through their creative work, including by collaborating with environmental experts and organisations working directly on climate change.

Responsibilities of the network engagement officer:

  • Delivery of the Green Arts Initiative including:
    • Responding to enquiries from Green Arts Initiative members and offering advice and guidance based on our guides, resources and case studies, and wider research.
    • Facilitating and providing the secretariat for the Green Arts steering group, an advisory body to the Green Arts Initiative.
    • Compiling and sending news, resources and information to Green Arts Initiative members in a bi-monthly round‑up (six mailings per year).
    • Updating and maintaining records of Green Arts Initiative members in the central CRM to support reporting and evaluation.
    • Updating and supporting Green Arts Initiative use of the Mighty Network online platform and other initiatives for their peer connection.
  • Development of the Green Arts Initiative including:
    • Working with colleagues across Culture for Climate Scotland, contribute to the project to integrate the Green Arts Initiative and Green Arts Charter sign‑up processes.
    • Consolidating and promoting the membership offer, including access to an online platform hosted via Mighty Network and other initiatives to support peer connection.
    • Working with those leading the culture/SHIFT programme to develop networks related to place‑based arts‑climate collaboration.
    • Support for environmental reporting delivery through provision of prescribed guidance to reporting organisations.
    • Contributing to the wider Culture for Climate Scotland delivery, including externally commissioned talks and workshops, and bringing together relevant research and knowledge.
    • Contributing to the wider Culture for Climate Scotland team in response to the organisation's strategic and administrative needs.

Person specification:

  • Understanding and experience of developing and supporting networks or membership bodies.
  • Experience and understanding of using databases/CRM systems to manage contacts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills, including the ability to deliver presentations to a wide range of audiences.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail with a demonstrable record in meeting deadlines and using their own initiative.
  • Excellent research skills and experience in the development, production and publication/dissemination of written, video and other resources.
  • Excellent IT skills including standard office applications (word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint) and digital tools, eg EcoSend, Canva, Ticket Tailor, Miro, Slido and Zoom.
  • A commitment to equalities, diversity & inclusion and its intersection with climate justice.
  • Flair and imagination.

Desirable characteristics:

  • Knowledge/understanding of climate change mitigation, adaptation and climate justice and its relevance to the arts and culture and screen sectors.
  • Knowledge of the cultural sector, particularly in relation to Scotland.
