Job Title: Junior Development Scientist Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Job Purpose: The Junior Development Scientist plays a pivotal role in our product development team, preparing samples, validating testing methods, maintaining high-quality record keeping, supporting the daily operations and upkeep of the Probiotic and VMS Formulation Laboratories, and contributing to administrative duties. This role provides an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to undertake a breadth of tasks with scope to support broader departmental responsibilities and long-term innovation projects. Key Responsibilities: · Prepare samples to support new product development initiatives. · Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to complete product testing. · Maintain precise and accurate records to track sample preparation and testing. · Assist in the development and validation of new testing methods and work protocols. · Generate clear and detailed reports on completed work. · Consistently adhere to health and safety standards and protocols. · Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the Formulation Laboratories. · Manage supplies and materials used within the Formulation Laboratories. · As the role develops, take on broader responsibilities within the department. · Support and, over time, lead the progression of long-term development projects to drive product innovation. Required Skills and Experience: · Strong attention to detail and accuracy. · Proficiency in Office applications. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. · Prior experience in a laboratory setting is preferred. · Experience with micropipettes is considered advantageous. · Familiarity with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles is advantageous. · Familiarity with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations is advantageous. Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or food technology related discipline. Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Typically, from 08:00 to 16:00. Some flexibility on hours may be permitted.
