Warehouse Operative (with Quality Control Support)

Job Summary:

The Warehouse Operative plays a key supporting role across multiple departments within the warehouse team. They will be responsible for efficiently handling goods-in and goods-out processes, including picking, packing, stock management, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. In addition, this role provides Quality Control (QC) support, assisting with product inspections, relabelling, investigations, and basic product assembly to ensure goods meet company and customer standards.

This role requires strict adherence to Health & Safety guidelines, strong attention to detail, and a focus on accuracy and efficiency in fulfilling orders and managing stock.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. QC Support

  • Conduct basic product inspections on inbound containers to check for damages, defects, or inconsistencies.
  • Assist the QC Officer with investigations into product or process quality issues.
  • Relabel cartons where required to ensure compliance with shipping/customer requirements.
  • Assemble products or components as requested for customer orders.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of QC checks and escalate issues when required.

2. Picking Operations

  • Receive order allocations from the Picking Supervisor and accurately pick items from designated warehouse locations.
  • Escalate any issues, such as missing items, to the Stock Control team.
  • Remove empty boxes and maintain cleanliness in picking areas.

3. Packing Operations

  • Scan products and ensure all fixings and parts are present, escalating any discrepancies.
  • Perform packing processes according to guidelines, ensuring the efficient use of materials and safe securing of products.
  • Assist with loading courier vehicles as required.

4. Goods-In Operations

  • Load and unload lorries and vans in line with Health & Safety (H&S) procedures.
  • Physically transfer stock from the Goods-in area to the warehouse and assist with loading outgoing lorries.
  • Maintain yard and warehouse tidiness, adhering to recycling and refuse disposal guidelines.

5. General Warehouse Duties

  • Assist with general warehouse tasks as directed by Team Leaders.
  • Maintain assigned equipment and report any damage immediately.
  • Support new and existing employees as needed, ensuring all team members work towards departmental KPIs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience using pallet trucks and other warehouse equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safe working practices and manual handling procedures.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow established QC and warehouse procedures.
  • Effective communication skills and PC literacy for administration tasks.
  • Ability to work efficiently, manage time, and take initiative.
  • Trustworthy and reliable in handling company property and information.
  • Training provided by Team Leaders.

Working Hours:

  • Standard hours: 08:30 – 17:30, with a 1-hour break as scheduled by the Supervisor (2x 10 minute breaks, 40 minute lunch break).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From £12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
