Role Description

The Interior Design & Visual Merchandising Lead is a full‑time, hybrid role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility to work from home for part of the week. This role is responsible for creating engaging in‑store and online visual concepts that reflect Cult Furniture’s brand, ensuring that furniture and accessories are displayed in a way that drives sales and enhances the customer experience. Day‑to‑day tasks include planning and executing store layouts, developing mood boards and design schemes, and overseeing styling for showrooms, pop‑ups, events, and photoshoots. The role also involves collaborating closely with retail, marketing, product, and trade teams to align visual merchandising with campaign launches, seasonal ranges, and commercial priorities. The Interior Design & Visual Merchandising Lead will analyze store performance and customer feedback to refine visual strategies, manage display budgets and materials, and provide guidance and training to retail teams on brand standards and merchandising guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams, present design concepts, and provide clear guidance to retail staff.
  • Proven experience in retail sales and sales‑driven visual merchandising, with an understanding of how design and layout influence purchasing decisions.
  • Demonstrated customer service and customer experience skills, with a focus on creating inspiring, functional spaces that meet diverse customer needs.
  • Background in interior design, visual merchandising, or a related field, ideally within furniture, homeware, or lifestyle retail.
  • Proficiency in design and planning tools (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD, InDesign, or similar) and comfort working with digital mood boards and floor plans.
  • Strong aesthetic judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to translate brand guidelines into cohesive visual concepts across multiple locations.
  • Solid organisational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects, deadlines, and on‑site installations.
  • Experience leading or mentoring small teams, contractors, or stylists during store set‑ups, refits, or campaign installations.
