Working in support of the Head of Projects to manage, execute and deliver projects to the business needs. The Project Manager is expected to look after all aspects of project delivery using the approved Business Lifecycle Processes from initial set up to close out and lessons learned, with support from the business where necessary. This includes management of elements not carried out directly by the Project function and coordinating with other departments (Engineering, Production, etc) to ensure delivery requirements are achieved. The role is to ensure projects and department activity aligns with the strategic aims of the business.

Job Activities

  • Managing Projects throughout the Project Lifecycle to agreed Quality, Cost and Delivery Targets
  • Managing and Reporting of Project Status and Milestone activities to the Head of Projects and to the wider business
  • Working with the business to support Project activities on tenders and quotes as necessary
  • Commercial awareness and execution of projects to the best advantage of the business, including robust contract variation control
  • Identification and Management of Risks and Issues in an appropriate manner using the approved Risk and Issue Management process
  • Generation of accurate project plans that ensure alignment with project scope, customer deliverables and business capacity
  • Clear Identification of all project deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders, including scheduling progress meetings throughout the life of the project
  • Understanding of project deliverables and business processes to ensure delivery of projects, including working with Project team and other departments to ensure delivery on time, within budget and to the correct quality levels
  • Working with the business to ensure that correct resources and suppliers are onboard to ensure right first time delivery, within the necessary budgets and quality requirements
  • Financial control – understanding and setting up project budgets, feeding into the ERP system, invoice control and cash flow reporting
  • Responsible for setting and achieving stated project margin
  • Ensuring project milestones / invoices are submitted timely and with the appropriate documentation
  • Managing projects using the business lifecycle processes, through the business lifecycle gates and project processes
  • Maintaining regular project progress meetings and timely project reporting as agreed with and to the customer
  • Taking responsibility for all aspects of project performance and compliance, including adherence to project budget, delivery and quality requirements, whilst ensuring the final deliverable is complete to customer specification, and accompanied with the appropriate project and compliance documentation
  • Maintaining an approved file structure in support of Project Lifecycle Management
  • Ensuring detailed communications are placed and maintained to support the project, including action trackers, minutes of meetings and documentation control as necessary
  • Carrying out lessons learnt activities to ensure continuous improvement of project processes and business deliverables
  • Other duties that may be required from time to time
  • Strong team working ethic and leadership skills, able to contribute to a dynamic group, working under own initiative
  • Good communicator (written and oral)
  • Strong health, safety, environmental and operational management, and an ability to motivate people for all aspects of the business to fulfil both business and project requirements
  • Work to attain optimum performance within the Project Team and associated areas of responsibility
  • Maximise the use of Cullum management control and IT systems to ensure accurate and auditable project control
  • Promote and represent the Company when required, always setting a good personal example
  • Take all possible and reasonable steps to create a harmonious working environment using effective communication and team working techniques
  • Be aware of, and adhere to Company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Health, Safety, Welfare, Environmental

Formal Project Management qualification (e.g., Prince II or APMP) or familiar with the defined processes

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of delivering M Fabrication / manufacturing project management; Industry experience
  • Technical Knowledge
