To provide continual support to the Team Leader in all aspects relating to the smooth running of the shop floor. To carry out instructions from the Production Manager and Team Leader in all aspects of the role, including the personal control of job time bookings and document control in respect of drawings and quality plans. To produce a consistently high standard of fabricated items, meeting production deadlines and cost targets. To ensure the team’s compliance with quality, Health, Safety & Environmental standards and current legislation. To assist in other areas of the shop floor when required to help the smooth running of jobs through the department.
Job Activities
- Carry out plating and welding duties under the direct instruction of the Team Leader to meet cost and delivery targets.
- Carry out fabrication using technical drawings independently or as part of a team.
- Identify and, where possible, offer solutions to fabrication issues.
- Ensure that best practices in relation to Health, Safety & Environmental are adhered to at all times.
- Assist all members of the Company, including engineering, in the continual development of the Cullum Product wherever possible.
- Travel to site as reasonable and carry out assembly work in support of the Company and ultimately the customer’s requirements.
- Assist with or carry out any other activities as required by the Line Manager or the General Manager.
- Lead by example on matters of Health, Safety & Environmental, welfare and codes of conduct.
- Identify and suggest areas of improvement within the fabrication role.
- Work under own initiative and may be expected to guide and/or supervise staff on occasion.
- Work to attain optimum performance within the Production Department and associated areas of responsibility.
- Inform the Production Manager and Team Leader of major developments and/or problems within the Fabrication Team, its supply chain and customers.
- Transfer knowledge of the role within the department.
- Coach and mentor where required.
- Promote and represent the Company, setting a good personal example at all times.
- Create a harmonious working environment using effective communication and team-working techniques.
- Adhere to Company policies and procedures, including Health, Safety, Welfare, Environmental & Quality policies, the Employee Handbook and applicable Cullum IMS documentation.
- Undertake duties as required within the terms and conditions of employment and responsibilities in accordance with UK and EC laws.
Education / Qualifications (Essential)
- City & Guilds or equivalent in a relevant welding qualification.
- NVQ Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy.
- Formal coded welding qualifications.
Experience (Essential)
- Work with thicknesses of gauge - 3mm to 20mm, mild steel, stainless, cromwell & chromalloy.
- Competent in MIG and TIG welding.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a plating or welding role.
- Evidence of previous welding training or qualifications.
Experience (Desirable)
- Previous experience in a similar industry, all plating disciplines considered.
