JOB PURPOSE
Working as part of the Project team to manage, execute and deliver projects to the business needs. The Project Manager is expected to look after all aspects of the project delivery from initial set up to close out and lessons learnt. This includes management of elements not carried out directly by the Project function. Coordinating with other departments (Engineering, Production, etc) to ensure delivery requirements are achieved. To ensure projects department aligns with the strategic aims of the business.
JOB ACTIVITIES PROJECT DELIVERY
- Working with Business Development to support Project activities on tenders and quotes as necessary.
- Carrying out the processes of the project "life" from initial hand over to close out.
- From Kick off with the customer, through the business gated project processes.
- Ensuring detailed communications are under to support the project, including action trackers, minutes of meetings and documentation control as necessary.
- All aspects of project performance- including adherence to budget, and that delivery and quality requirements are exceeded.
- Also, ensuring the final deliverable is complete to customer specification, and accompanied with the list of customer documentation.
- Understanding and setting out the project deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders, including progress meetings with Customers and internal project reviews, throughout the life of the project.
- Financial control - understanding and setting up project budgets, feeding into ERP system, invoice control and cash flow reporting.
- Maintaining accurate project reports and robust margin control.
- Ensuring milestones / invoices are submitted timely and with the appropriate documentation.
- Working with the business to ensure that correct resources and suppliers are "On-board" to ensure "Right first time" delivery, within the necessary budgets and quality requirements.
- Commercial understanding and execution of projects to the best advantage of the business, including robust contract variation control.
- Risk management - understanding, control and mitigation of project risk (where possible, or reduction to acceptable levels) via risk registers, updated throughout the life of the project.
- Carrying out lessons learnt to ensure continuous improvement of project processes and business deliverables.
- Generation of accurate project plans, that ensure alignment with project scope, customer deliverables and business capacity.
- Understanding of project deliverables and business processes to ensure delivery of projects, including working with Project team and other department to ensure on time delivery, within budget and to the correct quality levels.
- Mentoring and delegating as necessary with the support of management team within the business to achieve the project.
- Any other duties that may be required from time to time.
SUPERVISION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strong team working ethic and leadership skills, able to contribute to a dynamic group, working under own initiative and provide guidance to all members of the department and wider team as required.
- Good communicator (written and oral).
- Strong health, safety, environmental and operational management, and an ability to motivate people for all aspects of the business to fulfil both business and project requirements.
- Work to attain optimum performance within the Project Team and associated areas of responsibility.
- Maximise the use of Cullum management control and IT systems to ensure accurate and auditable project control.
