We are looking for an experienced Yard Shunter to join our Tilbury depot, supporting a busy chilled logistics operation.
This is a dedicated yard-based role, ideal for someone who has previous shunting experience and is looking for a stable, consistent shunting position rather than a driving role on the road.
- Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off Night Shifts from 18:00 - 06:00
- What you'll be doing
- Moving trailers safely on and off loading bays throughout the shift.
- Supporting yard safety by monitoring, patrolling and maintaining safe yard movements.
- Operating a dedicated yard-based shunting vehicle.
- Helping ensure trailers are positioned correctly and loaded on time.
- Working closely with the transport and warehouse teams to keep the operation running smoothly.
- Liaise with other departments to support smooth loading and unloading.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene and housekeeping.
What we're looking for
- Previous yard shunting experience is strongly preferred.
- Someone who wants a dedicated shunting role and understands the pace, safety standards and responsibility of working in a busy yard environment.
- Current or previous Class 1 licence experience is preferred, although the role is yard-based and does not involve public road driving as part of the core duties.
- A safety-first approach and confidence moving trailers in a live operational environment.
- Reliability, good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a wider transport team.
