We are now recruiting for a Yard Operative to join our team at Appleton on a Full Time and Permanent Position with Stobart.
Role details
Shift: 4ON 4OFF Nights – 18:00pm-06:00am.
Salary: Β£30,222 per annum.
Responsibilities
- To efficiently maintain the cleanliness of company vehicles through the safe and proficient use of wash chemicals. Support other yard activities as required to ensure consistent adherence to site standards. Promote a safety-first culture in the gantry and yard, serving as a role model for safe shunting practices.
- Ensure company vehicles are washed and cleaned to company standards.
- Inspect trailers to confirm they are ready for customer presentation, including internal hygiene.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the wash area at all times.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of cleaning chemicals and consumables to ensure availability.
- Responsible for reporting daily activity on the Gantry Wash.
- Ensure trailers continue to move through the wash throughout the day by shunting as required to maintain a consistent flow through the gantry wash.
- To ensure that all items stored in the returns shed are done so in a neat and tidy manner and the shed is kept free of damage and clean and tidy at all times, as well as being secure.
- To make sure that all the returns paperwork is documented, controlled and distributed to the relevant personnel, as well as creating manifests to be created with each returns load.
- To complete tranships, returns and groupage consolidation loads in a timely manner.
- To ensure all groupage loads are safely tipped and placed in the marshalled area.
- To tip and re-load GKN pallets as required.
- To ensure the cross-docking facility is kept clean and tidy.
- To ensure that all areas of the yard, car park and perimeter are kept free of litter at all times and all bins are emptied on a regular basis.
- To ensure that all trailers and tractor units are parked in the correct locations in a neat and tidy system with wheels backed up to the sleepers.
- To ensure that daily trailer checks are carried out each morning to show all loaded, empty and damaged / VOR trailers.
- To ensure that all site maintenance (yard and buildings) is logged and where possible repaired.
- To ensure that all drivers, staff, and visitors consistently wear the correct PPE while in the yard area. Promote awareness of Health & Safety (H&S) protocols and encourage the prompt and responsible reporting of near misses and other potential hazards.
Qualifications
- The candidate must hold a valid and in-date UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication skills.
- High levels of flexibility, commitment and motivation and capable of operating with limited supervision within fixed guidelines.
- Possess a safety-first attitude.
- Capable of working in a pressurised environment.
- Ability to organise and manage own time effectively.
- Understands this role will require being outside in all weathers and is very physically active.
- Thrives in a team environment.
