Job Description
Our Telford site has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Team Leader to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.
As a Transport Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising the Transport Operations Team and the driver team, including the daily planning of company and third-party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers receive clear, precise instructions and are fully utilized.
Shift : 4 on 4 off, 6pm-6am.
Salary : £32,780 per annum, plus £1,000 attendance bonus.
Key Duties of Transport Team Leader:
- Allocate drivers and vehicles to loads efficiently, considering holidays, sickness, drivers\’ hours, and WTD regulations.
- Plan driver start times to meet the site\’s dispatch KPIs.
- Communicate proactively with third-party hauliers to ensure adherence to collection times.
- Coordinate with the shunting operation for pre-loading and unloading.
- Maintain clear communication with drivers regarding start times, load information, and directions.
- Ensure orders are dispatched and delivered in the correct condition, meeting customer specifications.
- Notify collection or delivery points of any delays.
- Maintain service levels in conjunction with other departments.
- Assign equipment for maintenance and service as per the maintenance planner\’s instructions.
- Follow health and safety policies, reporting all accidents.
Qualifications
- Transport experience in an FMCG environment.
- Excellent communication skills for accurate information delivery.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
- Professional, approachable, and helpful demeanor.
- Knowledge of tachograph, driving rules, and regulations.
- CPC National desirable but not essential.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Effective workload prioritization to meet deadlines.
