Overview of the Role
We are looking to appoint an innovative and dynamic teacher of Economics and Business to teach from GCSE to A level. Students study the AQA Economics and Edexcel Business A levels, and the school also offers the Cambridge Technical Business Extended Certificate and Diploma. A new GCSE Business Studies course will be introduced in September 2027. The department, led by the Head of Economics and Business, will consist of three teachers after this appointment. Classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and full wireless internet; all pupils have laptops and the school uses Google Classroom as its teaching platform. Familiarity with approved AI platforms such as Magic School and UpLearn is advantageous, though full training will be provided. Academic lessons run Monday to Friday, with enrichment on Saturday mornings; teachers are expected to deliver enrichment activities on approximately 50% of Saturdays. The school values professional and personal development and offers opportunities through the Chartered College of Teaching and other professional bodies.
Responsibilities
- Teach and inspire pupils across attainment from GCSE to A level.
- Contribute to the development of the new GCSE Business curriculum.
- Act as a school ambassador for Economics and Business.
- Oversee a tutor group of around 12 pupils.
- Participate in the school’s extra‑curricular activity programme.
- Deliver enrichment activities on approximately 50% of Saturdays.
