Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic EAL specialist to join a small but growing department. EAL is taught to all pupils who need to develop academic English skills, with flexible one‑to‑one and small group support. The role includes teaching Cambridge English suites, iGCSE ESL, and IELTS for international pupils, providing curriculum support, and advising staff on best practice.
Responsibilities
- Teach and inspire pupils of a range of ability, from Fourth Form (Year 9) to A level.
- Care for a tutor group of around 12 pupils.
- Contribute to the school’s extra‑curricular activity programme.
- Work with boarding staff, teaching and pastoral teams, and parents/guardians to ensure wrap‑around care for EAL pupils.
Qualifications
- CELTA Qualification or equivalent EAL/ESOL qualification (DELTA or equivalent desirable).
- Good understanding of Cambridge English main suite, IGCSE ESL, and IELTS exam requirements, as well as the academic, curriculum and pastoral needs of EAL pupils.
- Experience using iSAMS, Google Suite (Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Drive, Google Sheets) and educationally‑approved AI platforms such as Magic School.
