Description
The business systems engineer is responsible for ensuring the internal business systems are secure, reliable, and effective in supporting the company.
They lead the implementation, operation, and continual improvement of these systems, while contributing to the discovery, evaluation, and design of new technologies and enhancements to existing platforms.
Requirements
- Plan, administer, configure, and continually improve the company's hybrid Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments, and operate them day-to-day.
- Manage user identities, groups, authentication, and authorisation, ensuring staff and external collaborators are provisioned with appropriate access throughout their engagement with the company.
- Manage and support company laptop and desktop devices across Windows, mac OS, and a diverse Linux estate encompassing Debian-derived, Redhat-derived, and Arch-derived desktop distributions.
- Manage company mobile devices running Android and i OS, encompassing enrolment, setup, security, and user support.
- Develop, maintain, and evolve standard configurations and approved variations for business systems and managed devices; ensuring they remain secure, consistent, and appropriate to company needs.
- Develop and maintain information structures and collaboration environments that enable staff and external groups to locate, share, and manage documents effectively, while ensuring appropriate governance and security.
- Maintain operational oversight of the company's business systems, proactively identifying issues, coordinating responses, and engaging with vendors to ensure reliable service delivery.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the company, taking ownership of business systems while coordinating with other teams on shared technologies, integrations, and processes.
- Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, operational procedures, and user guidance.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and improve the administration of business systems through effective configuration, standardisation, and appropriate use of automation.
- Work with the Technology Strategy & Architecture, Product and Software teams to evaluate, implement, and continually improve business systems that support the company, contributing to technical evaluations, proof-of-concept work, and deployment planning.
- Administer business system licensing and vendor relationships, ensuring platforms remain appropriately provisioned, supported, and cost-effective.
- Fervently extol and advance initiatives that improve information safety and staff productivity.
