We're looking for a Commercial Finance Lead to become the analytical engine of Cubitts - turning numbers into narrative, data into direction, and reports into real-world impact. This is not a role for the faint of heart. It's for someone who wants to get stuck into the gears of a growing business, bringing rigour to our financial control, clarity to our commercial understanding, and discipline to our data. You'll partner closely with cross-functional teams (retail, eCommerce, operations, and production) to help Cubitts grow smarter, leaner, and stronger.
Your key responsibilities:
- Deliver timely, accurate monthly accounts, board packs, and financial reporting
- Own and improve cash flow forecasting, cost allocation, and budget tracking
- Introduce smarter processes, stronger controls, and better financial discipline
- Manage statutory accounts, audit, and compliance (with support from our accountants)
- Tighten working capital — from supplier terms to stock cycle management
What we're looking for:
- Commercial Finance
- Deepen understanding of COGS, product margin, and profitability by channel
- Build practical, intelligent financial models to support retail, eComm, and production decisions
- Lead cost-benefit analysis for new initiatives (e.g. pricing, new stores, product ranges)
- Introduce cost-centre budgeting and meaningful variance reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve EBITDA through better visibility and insight
- Bridge operational and financial data — and fix what doesn’t talk to each other
- Improve data quality across inventory, finance, and business systems
- Support selection, implementation, and optimisation of key platforms (Xero, POS, inventory tools)
- Be a trusted partner to the business — not just a reporter of numbers
- Present insights, not just data — and shape decisions at the highest level
- Prepare materials for investors, board, and external partners
- Help every team think more commercially
You’ll Thrive in This Role If You...
- Are ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified, with experience in a dynamic, multi-channel environment
- Have worked in finance manager, controller, or commercial finance roles in SMEs or scale-ups
- Are excited by complex data, and obsessed with getting to the real story behind the numbers
- Know how cost, margin, and profit move in a DTC retail or consumer brand business
- Enjoy creating order, building systems, and making things run better
- Communicate clearly and work collaboratively across teams
- Are hands-on, proactive, and comfortable in a role that spans the strategic and the scrappy
Nice to Have:
- Experience in retail, manufacturing, or DTC consumer brands
- Prior involvement in ERP or finance system implementations
- Managed small finance teams or outsourced finance partners
Some nice things you’ll get:
- Complimentary spectacles, eye examinations and generous discounts
- Option to buy and sell holiday
- Paid time away for the important moments in life
- Annual season ticket loan
- Cycle to work scheme
- Aviva life assurance and Digicare+
- Subscription to Champion Health
- Unlimited Business Skills Training
