Role Overview

The Product Development Manager is responsible for leading the end‐to‐end development of new products, from concept through to launch, ensuring alignment with market needs, business strategy, and operational capability. This role will drive innovation across the product portfolio, working cross‐functionally with engineering, operations, commercial, and marketing teams to deliver high‐quality, commercially viable solutions.

What our new 'Product Development Manager' will be doing

  • Provide leadership to a team of Design Engineers, including mentoring, performance management, and capability development to ensure delivery of high‐quality product solutions.
  • Lead the development of new products through structured stage‐gate / NPI processes.
  • Translate customer, market, and regulatory requirements into product specifications.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, product improvement, and cost optimisation.
  • Ensure product designs meet performance, quality, and safety standards.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle from concept to commercialisation.
  • Define timelines, budgets, and resource requirements for development projects.
  • Ensure on‐time delivery of product launches in line with business objectives.
  • Monitor risks and implement mitigation plans across development activities.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure feasibility and scalability.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to align product development with market demand and growth strategy.
  • Engage with marketing to support product positioning, messaging, and launch activities.
  • Gather and interpret customer feedback to inform product development decisions.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and industry innovations.
  • Represent Cubis Systems in technical discussions with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across product performance, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Introduce new technologies, materials, or processes to enhance product offering.
  • Support standardisation and best practices across product development processes.
  • Preparation of technical documentation, specifications, and product data sheets.
  • Support product testing, validation, and certification processes.
  • Contribute to internal training and knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.

The experience our new 'Product Development Manager' will have includes

  • Degree in Engineering, Product Design, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in product development or engineering roles.
  • Proven track record of delivering new products to market.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in product development within manufacturing or engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of NPI / stage‐gate processes.
  • Experience with materials, tooling, and manufacturing methods (e.g., plastics, moulding, or construction products desirable).
  • Demonstrated project management capability.
  • Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills.
