Position: Design Engineer
Reports to: Product Development Manager
Role Overview:
Based at our Lurgan site, we are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Design Engineer to join our innovative Product Development team. As a Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and manufacture of Cubis, NAL & Filoform solutions, addressing global industry and construction challenges of today and future applications. You will be responsible for each stage of the design process whilst staying focussed on the needs of the customer and solution offering.
Key Accountabilities:
- Preparation of Product Design Specifications in accordance with customer requirements
- Generation of concept designs for new and existing product development
- Proactively identify product trends and future applications and opportunities
- Managing design projects through internal NPI / Innovation Stage-Gate process
- Coordination and collaboration across cross functional teams, delivering customer-centric solutions
- Application of design for manufacture (DFM) principles
- Validation of part designs by FEA analysis and physical type testing
- Ownership & project management of design projects from concept to completion
- Thoroughly researching new materials and manufacturing processes
- Attending design meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with industry design and safety standards
Experience and Training:
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment, candidates working with sheet metal and fabrication design would be desired
- A third level education in Product Design or Mechanical Engineering is desirable
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail and the ability to think outside the box.
- Experience in Solidworks Office 365 packages
Essential Criteria:
- HNC level education in Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience in designing sheet metal and polymer products
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Solidworks CAD design / modelling
- Experience in steel fabrication & manufacturing
- Ability to travel to customer / site meetings when required
- Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
