We must achieve our goals by delivering our projects the right first time, and to ensure this happens, we have an opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who has a relentless focus on quality and detail and is a confident communicator to join our Operational team. We’re not looking for people who sit down and say “that’ll do”. We operate with an agile mindset in a fast-paced environment, and we are always looking to continually improve and evolve. Main duties and responsibilities:
- Taking off quantities from drawings for procurement/checking subcontractor applications/pricing variations
- On-site measures
- Checking invoices against purchase orders
- Involvement with subcontractor procurement and subcontractor procurement analysis
- Issue tender enquiries
- Placing sub-contract orders
- Placing purchase orders (e.g. labour, materials, preliminary items)
- Managing sub-contract packages from procurement through to final account
- Convene and attend sub-contractor meetings and internal meetings as required
- Costing client variations
- Tracking progress of warranties & appointments through to full execution
- Assisting with tenders (measuring, issuing enquiries, meeting with supply chain, analysing returns)
Key attributes:
- Be reliable, trustworthy and proactive, with an enthusiastic approach to work and learning, with good punctuation and attendance
- Have strong organisation and communication skills, with a methodical approach and a good attention to detail
- Be excellent in the use of Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel
- Understanding of recognised methods of measurement (i.e. NRM)
- Appreciation of the various types of main contract procurement
- Have good knowledge of measurement software (i.e. Bluebeam or similar)
- Have good knowledge of the various types of common forms of contract (NEC/JCT) and understand the format and structure of contract / sub-contract agreements
- Have experience in using databases and similar bespoke IT systems
- Willingness to develop a career
- Experience of working with a contractor
