Main duties and responsibilities

  • Taking off quantities from drawings for procurement/checking subcontractor applications/pricing variations
  • On-site measures
  • Involvement with subcontractor procurement and subcontractor procurement analysis
  • Assisting with tenders (measuring, issuing enquiries, meeting with supply chain, analysing returns)
  • Issue tender enquiries
  • Placing sub-contract orders
  • Placing purchase orders (eg. labour, materials, preliminary items)
  • Managing sub-contract packages from procurement through to final account
  • Convene and attend sub-contractor meetings and internal meetings as required
  • Costing and agreeing variations
  • Key attributes
  • Be reliable, trustworthy and proactive, with an enthusiastic approach to work and learning, with good punctuation and attendance.
  • Have strong organisation and communication skills, with a methodical approach and a good attention to detail.
  • Be excellent in the use of Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of recognised methods of measurement.
  • Appreciation of the various types of main contract procurement.
  • Have good knowledge of the various types of common forms of contract (JCT/NEC) and understand format and structure of contract / sub-contract agreements
  • Have experience in using databases and similar bespoke IT systems
  • Willingness to develop career.
