Job Summary:
This role is required to manage and deliver, on street Engineering and Civils projects required by internal and external clients and working closely with the Capital Works Capacity Planning Manager to forecast future works, resource demand and deliver the requirements. This role will be responsible for all aspects of their associated schemes portfolio delivery and will also support the wider Capital Works team when required. Working within the Projects team and managed by the Program Manager.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management of specific engineering and civils project works from concept through to completion
- Identification, capture and progression of Capital Works / Supplementary Works and other opportunities
- Ensuring that engineering projects are delivered to specification on time and on budget, ensuring that contract change and early warnings are captured, managed and communicated effectively
- Involvement in the preparation of project progress and financial reports for internal and external customers
- Involvement in the preparation of interim certificates to customers, ensuring that invoices from Suppliers and Contractors are processed correctly and in a timely manner
- Involvement in the Liaison with internal and external customer Project Managers to develop and update the evolving Engineering groups along with Civils Projects Works Programme
- The preparation of quotations and variations to internal and external customers that may involve the development of scope of based on briefs, intelligence and innovation while ensuring that Cubic governance procedures are adhered to
- The documented completion of technical, financial and commercial reviews and financial sign off reviews
- Ensuring that works are completed to schedule and that billing is both complete and timely
- Ensure that site Instructions are received from the internal and external clients prior to works commencing and that Purchase Orders are raised with Suppliers and Subcontractors before works begin
- Perform documented site safety tours in line with site safety tour requirements
- Involvement in project reviews and the production of regular progress and Value of Work Done (VOWD) reports for internal and external customers as required
- Monitoring and control of subcontractors and suppliers, via regular documented progress meetings
- Develop and maintain engineering projects associated risk registers throughout all projects
- Negotiate with internal and external customers and stakeholders and their agents to appraise them of forthcoming works, plans to secure road space, agree traffic management plans, measures and permitting requirements
- Ensure that factory, local and site acceptance testing activities are carried out in a satisfactory manner and that results are recorded, communicated and shared
- Ensure that all projects documentation in line with Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations is collated and available for internal and external client review including the H&S file data
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them

- Periodic contracts meeting with clients (as required for scheme streams)
- Periodic finance meetings with clients (Project Review Milestones)
- Individual project progress meetings with clients
- Internal Cubic Finance meeting following submission of VOWD report (monthly if required)
- On-demand internal project meetings
- On-demand project work-shops
- On-demand meetings with suppliers and subcontractors
- On-demand quotation reviews
- On-demand meetings with clients and their agents to appraise of road space, traffic management and permitting
- Perform safety tours.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications
Essential:
- Qualified to HNC or higher in an Engineering discipline or experience in a similar role and client profile
- Proven experience of engineering, management of Contractors, management of contracts and management of multi-project programs
- Excellent Client facing skills
- Possess a full driving license
- Previous experience of managing projects involving Traffic Signal installations and Highways Agency NMCS2 infrastructure is desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Project/ Primavera or equivalent proficient
- Demonstrate experience of Microsoft Office suite of software
Desirable:
- Diploma in Engineering and Civils Project Management or equivalent/similar
- Prince 2 / MSP / PMBOK or equivalent
- APM Member
- Chartered Institute of Highways Member
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
Essential:
- Excellent IT skills required including a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel/MS Word/MS Outlook etc.)
- Experienced in project management planning using resource plans, forecasts and Gantt charts
- Quote, Variation, Invoice and Works Completion Experience
Desirable:
- Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a project management area
- Knowledge of London Transport Services and Products
