As Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will take a lead role in developing and improving manufacturing processes across the operational areas. You will design new systems and equipment, drive new product introduction, and coach a team of Manufacturing Engineers - all while working cross-functionally across production, CI, maintenance and R&D. This is a senior, influential role for an engineer who combines strong technical capability with the commercial awareness to manage budgets and lead from the front.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Circa £47,000
  • Annual Bonus: Up to 15% management incentive bonus - £7050 per annum

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading, coaching and developing the Manufacturing Engineering team, including setting and reviewing objectives aligned to operational goals
  • Designing new systems, equipment and processes to support new product introduction across all operational areas
  • Working cross-functionally from initial product conception through to full industrialisation and production
  • Supporting Design for Manufacture (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) development meetings
  • Leading the review and tender stages for new capital equipment - defining technical specifications and working with Purchasing to secure the best outcome
  • Developing and maintaining PFMEA documentation, updating as processes change
  • Managing budgets and maintaining financial and statistical records in collaboration with Finance
  • Liaising with R&D to ensure new products are production-ready with the correct equipment and processes in place
  • Evaluating and improving manufacturing processes with a focus on quality, efficiency and speed
  • Championing change management and embracing SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) across all projects

What We're Looking For

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering (essential); other engineering degrees will be considered
  • Understanding of metalworking processes and assembly operations
  • Working knowledge of Engineering and Manufacturing BOMs (eBOM/mBOM)
  • Understanding of no fault forward by design principles
  • Six Sigma training desirable but not essential

Experience

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment covering discrete part manufacture and assembly operations
  • Previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or in a senior engineering role
  • Experience in project management and cross-functional working

Skills & Attributes

  • Proficient in CAD (2D and 3D) — AutoCAD and Siemens NX preferred
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Technical capacity combined with strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels
  • Strong time management across concurrent projects
  • Collaborative team player with the drive to deliver results
