Based in Cross Hills, our client is a globally recognised, market-leading designer and manufacturer of high-precision machine tool systems. Operating across multiple countries and serving some of the world's most technically demanding engineering sectors, this is a business with a strong heritage, a genuine commitment to quality excellence, and a collaborative culture where every team member plays a meaningful role.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to play a key role within a busy Quality Department. Working cross-functionally with suppliers, customers, and internal teams, you'll help drive a culture of operational excellence and Right First Time thinking - ensuring that products, processes, and systems consistently meet internal, customer, and regulatory standards. This is a varied, hands-on role that spans quality assurance, supplier management, continuous improvement, internal auditing, and KPI reporting - with real scope to make an impact across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
    • Ensure supplied and internally manufactured products comply with engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, and all applicable standards.
    • Support and maintain ISO 9001 compliance and contribute to the ongoing development of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
    • Act as the recognised point of contact for quality-related issues across the business.
  • Supplier, Customer & Internal Interface
    • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to investigate non-conformances and ensure effective CAPA implementation.
    • Monitor supplier quality performance and drive improvement initiatives.
    • Manage customer complaints with clear communication and timely resolution.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
    • Lead structured problem-solving activities including 8D investigations, root cause analysis (5 Why), and corrective action planning.
    • Identify and implement quality improvement opportunities across products and processes.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and Right First Time thinking.
  • Audits & Reporting
    • Plan and perform internal IMS, supplier, and safety audits.
    • Support external ISO audits and regulatory assessments.
    • Track and report quality KPIs including PPM, Pareto analysis and trends.
  • Coaching & Collaboration
    • Provide guidance and support to team members on quality tools and best practices.
    • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Supply Chain and HSE functions.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Minimum HNC or HND qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Completed 4-year mechanical apprenticeship.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply quality methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, Pareto analysis and PPM performance monitoring.
  • Strong analytical skills with a structured approach to root cause investigation.
  • Confident user of SAP and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Full, current UK driving licence.

Salary & Benefits

  • £35,000 – £40,000 salary depending on experience.
  • 28 days holiday + 8 bank holidays (36 days total).
  • 5% employer pension contributions.
  • Health cash plan.
  • Retailer discounts scheme.
