We are looking for a Parts Inspector to join us, working in a multi-functional, highly skilled, and flexible team.

As the Parts Inspector, you will work hands-on and be responsible for inspecting parts from internal manufacture and outsourced suppliers; supporting Assembly, Aftermarket and Spares requirements. Shift flexibility is vital to fulfil business needs.

About the job:

  • Inspecting components to ensure conformity, in line with specification.
  • Conversant with ISO19001.
  • Checking Cubic and Cylindrical components, up to an inclusive weight of 14 tonnes.
  • Endo scoping components; checking for burrs, debris or swarf.
  • Work with minimal supervision and plan workload effectively to achieve targets and KPIs.
  • Working on bespoke parts to stringent geometric tolerances.
  • Understand, and always work in line with Fives Values and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.

About you:

Time served apprenticeship certification

  • Strong understanding of Machining disciplines; Turning, Milling and Grinding.
  • Inspection via a range of metrology equipment. Including Faro arm, Talyrond, Talyvel and PMM – ideally Leitz.
  • Experience working with a range of materials – predominantly, cast irons, steels, and bronze alloys.
  • Working within the standards room – inspecting Geometric tolerances via Talyrond, levelling of beds and worktables.
  • Creation / interpretation of inspection and non-conformance reports. Decision making to improve product quality.
  • Accurately measuring to microns.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during machining processes, which have been identified through the inspection.
  • Ability to work through repetitive tasks and complex problems without frustration.
