We are looking for a Machine Shop Technician to join us in a hands-on role, responsible for processing plans and implementing new product designs, along with the continual improvement of existing designs throughout the manufacturing facility.
The Technician has skills across multiple areas within the machine shop and manufacturing engineering including programming, prove-out, tool and jig design and setting, operation of a wide variety of CNC machines and control systems, whilst always considering cost, quality, and delivery, along with process and asset security and optimisation. The Technician will also be expected to develop the skills already demonstrated in these areas.

About the job:
- Contribute to the entire manufacturing process, from engineering design, through machining, to delivery.
- Program, set, prove-out, and operate CNC machines in turning, grinding, metrology, flexible machining centres, heavy machining, and heavy grinding.
- Produce complex components according to requirements.
- Work and measure to very tight tolerances (within several Micron range).
- Interpret engineering drawings and computer-generated models.
- Apply knowledge of materials and machining methods.
- Work with minimal supervision and plan workload effectively to achieve targets and KPIs.
- Program, prove-out, and edit CNC programs using software tools such as Vericut and Delcam.
- Design jigs and tools.
About you:
- Experienced in operating 5-axis and multi-pallet machine tools using Siemens 840D control.
- Several years of experience operating precision CNC machinery before progressing to part-programming with modern software.
- Proficient in NC programming of components using FeatureCam software.
- Capable of producing both cubic and cylindrical components ranging from 10kg to 14 tonnes.
- Skilled with a range of materials, mainly cast irons, steels, and bronze alloys.
- Experienced in manufacturing components to achieve critical geometrical tolerances and ensure product conformity.
- Hands-on skills for intricate tasks.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
- Capable of handling repetitive tasks and complex problems without frustration.
- Flexible to work different shifts and overtime as required.
