You’ll prepare accounts and tax work independently, working across a portfolio of clients with support from senior colleagues. This is a great next step for someone with 2–5 years’ experience looking to build genuine ownership over client work while continuing to develop towards leading a team and a portfolio of clients.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A natural communicator – comfortable explaining financial information clearly to clients and colleagues alike, and building the kind of rapport that turns routine contact into real client confidence
- Analytically sharp – able to interpret statutory accounts and business data and turn them into concise, informative management accounts that clients can act on
- A rounded adviser – capable of looking beyond a single return to a client’s whole financial and tax position (corporate, personal, and family) and advising accordingly
- Quick to adopt new technology – genuinely curious about technical innovation in accountancy and comfortable bringing new tools and accounting practices into everyday work
What You’ll Be Doing
- Preparing statutory accounts to a standard level, and interpreting them to produce concise, informative management accounts
- Preparing corporation tax and personal tax returns
- Preparing VAT returns
- Reviewing bookkeeping and payroll work
- Advising clients across their whole financial and tax position – corporate, personal, and family
- Assisting with client relationships and, occasionally, leading client meetings
- Supporting the team with delegated work and occasional training of junior staff
- Contributing to AML/compliance administration and process improvement, including adopting new technical tools and cloud accounting practices
About You
Experience: 2–5 years in a similar accountancy practice role
Qualifications: AAT qualified, or ACA/ACCA part-qualified
Skills & knowledge
- Competent in financial statements, management accounts, corporation tax, personal tax, VAT, and tax advisory
- Competent in bookkeeping, audit support, and corporate finance/business advisory work
- Understanding of payroll and company secretarial work, with compliance services experience
- Intermediate Excel skills and confidence with cloud accounting software, with a genuine interest in adopting new technical tools
You’ll thrive here if you have:
- Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build client confidence
- Strong attention to detail
- A collaborative approach and the initiative to take on more responsibility over time
- A methodical, analytical approach to problem-solving, with an eye for the bigger picture across a client’s business and finances
