An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and driven Business Development Manager to join a successful and growing organisation operating within the foodservice, wholesale and retail sectors.
This is a high-profile, national field-based role responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of established key accounts worth in excess of £12 million, whilst identifying and securing new business opportunities across England and Wales.
The territory covers the Midlands, London, South East, South West, Yorkshire, Lancashire and North East regions.
The Role
You will be responsible for maintaining, growing and developing sales across an existing customer base while proactively identifying new business opportunities.
Managing approximately 65 key accounts, you will build strong customer relationships, create account growth plans and deliver sustainable sales growth against agreed KPIs.
The role involves regular customer visits, presentations, business reviews and networking opportunities, with occasional overnight stays where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop an established portfolio of key accounts.
- Generate new business opportunities and win new customers.
- Deliver sales growth and achieve agreed KPI targets.
- Conduct regular customer visits and business reviews.
- Develop annual forecasts and customer growth plans.
- Identify opportunities for new product listings and increased distribution.
- Build strong long-term customer relationships.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and customer activity.
- Prepare and deliver professional customer presentations.
- Attend trade shows, exhibitions and industry events where required.
About You
We're looking for someone with
- Proven experience in Business Development, Field Sales or Account Management.
- Experience selling into cash and carries ideally. You may be working for a wholesaler or food manufacturing business
- A track record of delivering sales growth.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiating skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- A proactive, determined and resilient attitude.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage a national territory.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Flexibility to travel extensively and stay away from home when required.
Package
Basic Salary: Up to £40,000 with a car Allowance of £6,000 plus a bonus of up to £10,000 per annum
