We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join our team, supporting children aged 2–5 during one of the most important stages of their development. In this role, you’ll create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Working closely with colleagues and parents, you’ll play a key part in shaping positive early learning experiences and supporting every child as an individual.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing high-quality care, supervision, and support for children aged 2–5
  • Planning and delivering engaging activities tailored to each child’s development and interests
  • Building strong relationships with parents and carers through clear, supportive communication
  • Observing, assessing, and recording children’s progress
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting children’s emotional wellbeing
  • Ensuring a safe, clean, and well-organised environment at all times
  • Supporting mealtimes, daily routines, and hygiene practices
  • Working collaboratively as part of a supportive team
  • Acting as a role model and supporting the development of junior staff and students
  • Maintaining accurate records, including safeguarding, accidents, and risk assessments
  • Contributing to nursery events, parent evenings, and outings

You’ll also ensure full compliance with safeguarding requirements, relevant legislation, and nursery policies, always maintaining the highest professional standards.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Level 3 Childcare qualification (NVQ or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of child development (0–5 years)
  • Experience planning activities that support all areas of development
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
  • Experience working within a key person system
  • Excellent communication skills with both children and adults
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Reliable timekeeping and a professional approach
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable:

  • First Aid and/or Food Hygiene certification
  • Experience working in a diverse or multicultural setting
  • A proactive approach to continuous learning and development
  • Flexible and adaptable attitude
