CTVC is looking for a highly experienced and driven Executive Producer to join our award-winning Audio & Podcast team on a fixed-term basis. Taking the lead on the editorial and strategic vision for the department, this role will oversee the current slate of projects, CTVC’s in-house and award-winning podcast Things Unseen, develop standout ideas, and ensure delivery of content to the highest editorial, creative and compliance standards. Working across a variety of formats; documentaries, discussion series, audiobooks, and multi-part podcast serials – this role plays a key part in shaping CTVC’s future in the growing audio landscape.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the team in developing, shaping and pitching original audio ideas in CTVC’s core areas of religion, ethics, and society—for the BBC and other commissioning platforms as well as CTVC’s in-house podcast, Things Unseen.
- Oversee complex productions, ensuring they’re delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest editorial standards—including managing risks, compliance, and editorial sign-off.
- Actively seek new business with new clients and funding opportunities.
- Act as the senior editorial lead on commissioned content, ensuring adherence to BBC Editorial Guidelines and best practice.
- Guide high-profile or investigative podcasts through production and editorial processes, providing leadership on structure, sourcing, and narrative development.
- In step with CTVC strategy, work closely with the CEO and senior team to ensure companywide collaboration including reporting.
- Work closely with the Production Executive to collaboratively manage a slate of projects, operational and risk management and financial reporting, as well contributing to and maintaining board reports, internal reporting documents, and other CTVC-wide communications as required.
- Collaborate with the production management team to manage budgets, contracts, deliverables, and risk assessments, engage freelance producers, contributors, and other production talent.
- Maintain strong relationships with commissioners at BBC Radio and other platforms.
- Support the professional development and workload management of the in-house team.
- Stay across developments in the religion and ethics landscape and ensure team reporting is informed, accurate and connected.
You will have:
- A proven track record of creating and leading compelling audio content—particularly focused on religion, ethics or social justice—for BBC networks / other broadcasters and/or major podcast platforms.
- Strong editorial judgement, with deep familiarity with BBC Editorial Guidelines and a meticulous approach to compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, motivate individuals, and foster a collaborative and inclusive, positive working culture.
- Robust budget experience and confidence working across production schedules and financial planning with support and working collaboratively with the Production Executive.
- Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise and problem-solve across multiple projects.
- Clear and confident communicator, able to manage relationships with contributors, funders, and stakeholders.
- A respectful, open attitude to exploring matters of faith and belief.
