Overview

As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and effective management of all laboratory and site‑service operations within your area of responsibility.

You will ensure that services are delivered safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively, meeting client requirements, agreed timescales, and the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all site‑service activities and testing programmes, ensuring efficient delivery and adherence to client deadlines.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor operational schedules, adjusting resources and timelines as required to meet business and customer needs.
  • Ensure operational activities are delivered in a cost‑effective manner while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
  • Determine resource requirements, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support operational demands.
  • Develop and manage project and contract timescales, ensuring successful execution and completion.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor quality standards across laboratory and site operations.
  • Oversee testing processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Manage the selection, maintenance, calibration, and effective utilisation of equipment.
  • Monitor product and service quality, implementing and managing quality‑control programmes to ensure compliance.
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including Quality, Health & Safety, suppliers, managers, and directors.
  • Support the implementation and achievement of company policies, objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop operational teams, fostering a positive and high‑performing working environment.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching, mentoring, and support to team members.
  • Identify training and competency requirements for staff and self, arranging or delivering training and competency assessments as necessary.
  • Ensure all associated training, competency, and compliance records are accurately completed and maintained.
  • Support, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with all relevant accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with the requirements of BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 and contribute to maintaining accreditation standards.
