We are currently seeking a reliable and hard-working Materials Testing Field Technician industry experience to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for a technician who has already gained some hands-on experience in materials testing (e.g., concrete, soils, aggregates) and is now looking to develop further within a supportive and accredited environment.
You will carry out field-based testing on construction sites and assist with laboratory tasks, working under supervision but also expected to manage basic tasks independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out standard site tests on construction materials such as concrete (e.g., slump, cube sampling), soils (e.g., in-situ CBR, density), and aggregates.
- Collect and label samples accurately, ensuring compliance with UKAS procedures and relevant British Standards.
- Record and report test results clearly and promptly.
- Always adhere to health and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members on-site.
Requirements
- Experience in construction materials testing (field and/or lab).
- Understanding of standard testing procedures and British Standards (e.g., BS 1377, BS EN 12350).
- Full UK driving licence – essential.
- CSCS card (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong attention to detail and good work ethic.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience working under UKAS-accredited procedures.
- Nuclear density gauge training (if applicable).
- Basic IT skills for data entry and report generation.
