As a Plaster Technician, you will:
- Provide an expert casting and splinting service
- Maintain a high standard of patient care and be able to recognise potential complications and health care issues and report to the relevant person
- Recognise legal implications of documentation and complete accurate legible records
- Provide wound care appropriate to the patients’ needs and record this in line with department documentation standards
- Plan and organise straightforward activities, plans and prioritises own workload
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations, use appropriate personal protective equipment and advise others as appropriate. Take action to assess the management of risk and reduce where possible. Report using Trust incident reporting procedures
- Be flexible within the department and have knowledge of the different clinic sessions
- Educate patients and significant others on problems associated with living with a cast/splint
- Provide patients and carers with advice relating to orthopaedic conditions and associated health care issues
