This company has developed and commercialised their Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) and Lentiviral vectors (LVV) analytical equipment. You will be joining a company as they scale-up their commercialisation with their revolutionary technology.
The Technical Sales Specialist will play a crucial role in developing and executing our new business acquisition strategy in the territory. Reporting to the Sales Director, EMEA, this position requires a blend of business acumen and scientific expertise in the field of instrumentation for biomolecular analytics.
Location: 1 x North England, 1 x South England.
Primary responsibilities for this role include:
- Formulate and execute a comprehensive New Business Acquisition strategy for the territory, identifying new opportunities and optimizing our market reach.
- Sell and promote products and solutions across customer groups in Academia and Industry.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales targets.
- Create and drive new business opportunities through the sales funnel with timely lead response and nurturing.
- Provide accurate opportunity forecasting and ensure CRM systems are consistently updated with relevant next steps, new contacts, and customer insights.
- Identify new prospects and establish business relationships with potential customers.
- Manage and build strong customer relationships for long-term mutual benefit.
- Manage a network of local dealers, including selecting, onboarding, training, and providing ongoing support to drive sales and business growth.
- Build strong networks within relevant academic and industrial circles.
- Assess and analyse customer needs, respond to inquiries, and recommend appropriate products and services.
- Understand customer applications, workflows, and pain points/bottlenecks to determine where our technology fits.
- Collaborate closely with Field Application Scientists to qualify leads and organize customer presentations and demonstrations.
- Identify key decision-makers and understand their purchasing processes.
- Actively promote newly launched products and services, ensuring successful implementation and adoption.
- Conduct routine follow-ups with existing customers to review needs such as upgrades, consumables, or additional support.
- Lead price and contract negotiations with prospective customers.
- Work closely with other departments (Marketing, Product Management, Applications, and Service) to provide full technical information and support.
- Utilize all available sales tools (e.g., Salesforce, LinkedIn) to maximize sales efficiency.
- Support Sales leadership in the development and implementation of territory plans.
- Drive sales and promotional activities such as conferences, seminars, and customer workshops to generate leads.
- Prepare monthly forecasts and maintain accurate opportunity information in CRM systems.
Skills and Experience:
Qualifications:
- Degree in Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field; an additional business degree is a plus.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a sales role working with analytical CAPEX equipment, specifically within the life sciences sector in the UK.
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
- Experience communicating with different audiences and cross-functional teams (e.g., customers, Sales Operations, R&D, Product Management, Applications, Service & Support).
- Right to work in relevant country required as standard for all roles.
- Full driving license.
- Ability to travel: Moderate to high within and out of the assigned territory (50% or more).
- Established network in the regional life sciences sector is desirable.
- Postgraduate Degree in a Molecular Biology Science, or similar relevant field.
