An innovative scientific instrumentation company is seeking an experienced Field Applications Specialist (FAS) to support customer evaluations, drive technical engagement, and enable successful adoption of a cutting-edge analytical platform for nanoparticle and nanoformulation characterisation.
This is a highly customer-facing role combining deep scientific expertise with commercial awareness. You will act as a trusted technical partner to researchers across academia and industry, guiding them through complex workflows and demonstrating clear scientific and commercial value.
Technical Leadership & Demonstrations- Develop deep expertise in a proprietary single-particle spectroscopy platform and its applications (e.g. lipid nanoparticles, exosomes, polymer systems).
- Lead high-quality on-site and remote instrument demonstrations aligned to customer objectives.
- Partner closely with sales teams to define success criteria and support complex, long-cycle sales processes.
- Confidently present technical concepts to diverse scientific audiences.
- Own the technical evaluation process from pre-demo scoping through post-demo follow-up.
- Analyse experimental data and produce high-impact reports demonstrating system performance and insight.
- Troubleshoot analytical challenges and advise customers on best practices.
- Support sales conversion by clearly articulating scientific fit and value.
- Work closely with applications, engineering, and commercial colleagues to ensure excellent customer outcomes.
- Capture customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and market trends to inform product and strategy.
- Represent the company at conferences, workshops, webinars, and user meetings.
- Support development of application notes, training materials, and technical documentation.
- Assist with proposal development and technical qualification of opportunities.
- Contribute flexibly within a growing, fast-paced life science instrumentation environment.
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Bioengineering, or related field.
- Strong hands-on experience with nanoparticle or nanoformulation characterisation and/or vibrational spectroscopy (Raman, IR).
- Prior experience in a Field Applications, Technical Specialist, or customer-facing scientific role.
- Commercial exposure supporting complex scientific sales cycles is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
