Want to be part of a team transforming healthcare? We are supporting an innovative Oxfordshire-based DeepTech medical imaging company developing a new generation of low-dose 3D X-ray systems designed to make advanced imaging more accessible, practical and cost-effective.

Having built a strong foundation in R&D, the business is now entering an exciting commercialisation phase, with products progressing towards market deployment and wider real-world adoption. As part of this journey, they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the design, development and industrialisation of advanced imaging systems and associated technologies.

Act as a functional expert, providing guidance and advice to colleagues in their specialist area (Mechanical Engineering and testing). Generate practical design concepts and solutions and create models and technical drawings using SolidWorks. Analyse and verify designs (including designing and carrying out stress, thermal and tolerance analyses), document results and make data led recommendations to support continuous improvement of our products and processes. Prepare documentation and technical reports, including drawings and work instructions, and all other project documentation as required. Take ownership for own project work, lead projects and identify and prioritise critical tasks to meet project delivery deadlines. Order components and materials, liaising with suppliers to ensure project deliverables are met. Assist with the build and progression of prototype products and develop these into production assemblies.

Requirements:

  • Design engineering experience in a high technology environment
  • Mechanical manufacturing processes including machining, metal fabrication, welding and advanced materials
  • Leading R&D projects under a stage review product development process
  • A track record in industrial product development, ideally in the medical or metrology/NDT domain
  • Commercial experience of working with suppliers would be advantageous
  • Working within a medical device or other highly regulated industry would be welcome but not essential
  • Designing for EMC to protect internal electronics
  • Strong technical skills including knowledge of the materials and coating processes applied in material selection
  • Strong mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering background, and be able to apply knowledge to real-world situations
  • Proficient in 3D CAD using SolidWorks, to produce designs and drawings using best practice geometric tolerances and drawing standards including experience with drawing control systems such as PDM
  • Ability to produce creative and practical design solutions including appropriate analysis, incorporating electronics, PCBs cabling and sensors within a mechanical package
