An emerging scientific instrumentation company is looking for a Field Applications Scientist. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on laboratory or analytical experience who enjoys working with customers, explaining science, and applying their technical background in a commercial setting. You will receive structured training and mentorship while building your skills in customer-facing applications support.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and develop expertise in a proprietary analytical platform for nanoparticle and nanoformulation analysis.
- Support instrument demonstrations at customer sites and remotely alongside senior colleagues.
- Assist in preparing and delivering clear, engaging technical presentations.
- Help analyse demo and evaluation data and contribute to customer reports.
- Provide follow-up technical support and assist customers with interpretation of results.
- Support troubleshooting activities under guidance from senior applications specialists.
- Work closely with sales, engineering, and applications teams to support customer success.
- Contribute to application notes, training materials, and internal documentation.
- Participate in conferences, workshops, and webinars to build product and market knowledge.
- Build confidence in customer-facing communication and scientific storytelling.
- Develop commercial awareness and understanding of the sales–applications interface.
- Take on increasing responsibility as experience grows.
Qualifications
- PhD (or equivalent experience) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Bioengineering, or related discipline.
- Practical experience with nanoparticles, nanoformulations, spectroscopy, or advanced analytical techniques.
- Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and experimental skills.
- Clear communicator with an interest in customer interaction and applied science.
- Willingness to travel and learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous applications or commercial experience is not required but is a plus.
