An innovative UK biotechnology company is looking for a Development Programme Manager to support a broad and varied development programme in hearing loss. This is a 12-month, full-time fixed-term contract, which will hopefully move to a permanent role in the future. Part-time and flexible working will also be considered.
This opportunity would suit someone with strong life sciences programme or project management experience who enjoys working in fast-paced, dynamic, hands-on and highly collaborative start-up environments.
The Development Programme Manager will provide programme management capacity across a complex development environment, helping to keep workstreams organised, visible and moving forward. The company is progressing an innovative cell therapy / surgical combination therapeutic while also building the wider pathway needed to support future development, including clinical planning, trial-related activity, outcome measures, device-related work, documentation workflows and external collaboration.
This is not a narrow clinical operations role, nor a purely scientific position. It is a hands-on programme management role for someone who understands life sciences development and enjoys keeping multiple moving parts aligned.
Key Responsibilities- Support programme planning, coordination, tracking and delivery across multiple development workstreams
- Maintain timelines, milestones, dependencies, action trackers, RAID logs and reporting materials
- Coordinate meetings, agendas, decisions, actions and stakeholder follow-up
- Help identify risks, delays, resource pressures and interdependencies, and support practical mitigation planning
- Support trial preparation, development planning and transition points between teams
- Work cross-functionally with clinical development, clinical operations, scientific, regulatory, quality and external partner teams
- Support documentation, contract, confidentiality agreement and collaboration workflows
- Help improve planning tools, reporting cadence, project governance and cross-functional ways of working
We are keen to hear from candidates who have:
- Programme or project management experience in biotech, pharma, cell therapy, advanced therapies, medical devices or a related life sciences setting
- Experience working in small, fast-moving or early-stage company environments
- Ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, stakeholders, timelines and deliverables
- Strong planning, tracking, reporting and follow-up skills
- Confidence working across scientific, clinical, operational and external partner groups
- Enough clinical development understanding to operate credibly across trial-related and development activities
- A practical, collaborative and low-ego style
- Experience in cell therapy, regenerative medicine, advanced therapies, early-stage biotech, medical devices, surgical approaches, hearing-related therapeutics or other complex development settings would be particularly relevant.
This role is unlikely to suit someone from a purely non-biopharma project management background or someone with only academic experience and limited exposure to industry development processes.
