Responsibilities
- Contributing to a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of the children.
- Recording children’s learning and development journeys and communicating these with parents, carers, and other key adults.
- Being actively engaged in great teamwork.
- Liaising with and supporting parents, carers, and other family members.
- Participating in the high-quality care and supervision of all children.
- Attending activities that are out of working hours (e.g. staff meetings, training, and events).
- Being flexible and prepared to help where needed (including domestic duties such as preparing meals and cleaning toys).
- Following the ethos of the nursery, creating a warm and friendly environment.
- Working alongside the nursery manager and staff team.
- Ensuring that EYFS is promoted efficiently and that its policies are followed correctly.
- Providing excellent customer service.
- Helping with the smooth running of the nursery.
- Reading, understanding, and adhering to all policies and procedures relevant to the role as deemed appropriate by the nursery manager.
- Minimum of 6 hours per week spent on apprenticeship work and training.
Apprenticeship & Qualifications
- Working towards the Early Years Practitioner Level 2 qualification.
- Monthly 1-2-1 meetings (online via Teams) with a tutor; no classroom or college attendance required.
- Modules include child development from birth to 7 years, safeguarding, promoting wellbeing, supporting activities, purposeful play, and educational programmes.
- Minimum 3 hours per week to complete apprenticeship work (assignments, research, projects) plus at least 3 hours of training from the employer. All work is completed in the workplace during working hours.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum GCSE Grade 4/C in Maths & English (or equivalent).
- UK Residency – must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
- Strong communication and teamwork.
- Attention to detail, organisation, initiative and problem solving.
- Creativity, non-judgmental attitude, patience and numeracy.
What you will earn
- £7.55 per hour, 40 hours per week.
- Location: St Joseph’s School & Nursery, 33 Derby Road, Nottingham, NG1 5AW.
