The work will involve:
- Responsibility for a portfolio of clients, taking ownership of the compliance process and associated administration; workflows, WIP and billing.
- Income Tax return preparation and computation of tax liabilities.
- Preparation of Capital Gains Tax computations.
- Preparation of partnership tax returns and returns for trusts.
- Supervising and reviewing junior staff in more routine compliance work.
- Assisting with ad-hoc advisory projects, with a view to further development of these skills over time.
- Drafting letters to clients, HM Revenue & Customs and third parties.
- Telephone communication with HM Revenue & Customs and other third parties.
- Involvement in client meetings.
We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with:
- At least 2 years’ experience within a tax department.
- Ability to demonstrate technical competence across private client tax and/or unincorporated businesses.
- A drive to increase tax-technical knowledge base across all areas of traditional private client, trusts and estates and unincorporated businesses.
- A good level of numeracy, written skills and attention to detail.
- A passion for client care and a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
- A sound understanding of the key commercial drivers of the business.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues.
- Interest in career development/progression.
- ATT, or equivalent, is desirable and an ambition to complete CTA would also be preferred.
